The extraordinary High Holy Day season invites people to engage in a "Heshbon HaNefesh," an "accounting of the soul," which prompts us to ask ourselves:
How have I grown in the year past?
What have been my obstacles?
In what new direction do I want to move?
What and who deserves my love?
How do I turn away from (self) destructive behavior?
For what do I yearn?
What can I best give to the people who depend on me and to the world at large?
Looking at powerful texts of the Hebrew Bible and Jewish tradition, we will explore how Jewish Spirituality can guide us to greater self-awareness, compassion, gratitude and commitment in our lives.
We will include creative and dynamic Sabbath and Jewish New Year rituals as well as periods of silence and contemplation.
Jewish and non-Jewish who desire a deeper understanding of Jewish spirituality and of their own sense of an “accounting of the soul” are welcome.
