Me, an Ordinary Person, a Mystic?
A Women's Retreat

Sisters Suzanne Toolan RSM & Marguerite Buchanan RSM

September 19-22, 2013

We will look at times we become more aware of the Divine through our own life experiences.

Reflect on what is meant by "a mystical experience".

Identify how this kind of experience is found in our own lives.

Look at time-honored skills that prepare us to become more aware of this gift of Divine Life.

Learn how our mystical awareness is enhanced in nature, relationships and in prayer.

Form a gentle rhythm of prayer and reflection, listening and sharing, music and silence.

My part is to be open to what is presented each day as my life unfolds.

Sr. Marguerite Buchanan, RSM, was for many years a staff member at Mercy Center. Trained at the Center for Religious Development, Cambridge, MA, Marguerite has a Master's degree in Transpersonal Psychology. Her ministry has primarily been spiritual direction. Other areas of interest include dream work, body-mind-spirit integration, Centering Prayer and prison ministry. She recently retired as director of Catherine's Center, a transition house for women newly released from prison. Sr. Suzanne Toolan, RSM was one of the founders of Mercy Center, Burlingame. Suzanne is now resident liturgist and facilitates prayer at Mercy Center. She introduced Taizé prayer in the San Francisco Bay Area and in many parts of the United States. Suzanne is perhaps best known for her hymn "I Am the Bread of Life", that has been published in more than twenty languages and appears in nearly all major Christian hymnals.
