Cognitive Behavior Therapy Intensive
for Psychotherapists and Counselors*
w i t h Dr. Pamela Hays
July 11 -14, 2013
Participants of the workshop will be eligible for
16 hours of CE credit
through the Alaska Psychological Association
and the American Psychological Association. |
In this engaging, interactive workshop, we will explore positive psychology's most recent findings on happiness, followed by the learning and practice of cognitive behavioral strategies and mindfulness that build well-being. Set at water's edge, amidst the serene beauty of Halibut Cove, Alaska, experience the healing influence of nature as we learn and practice new ways of thinking, doing, and being with ourselves and with our clients. Learn how to inspire yourself and your clients with the Personal Strengths Inventory; recognize and work around core cultural beliefs; create homework that is challenging, do-able, and fun; and enhance your therapeutic effectiveness with behavioral and thought-change strategies such as Compassion Voice, Attitude of Gratitude, Wise Elder, and the Magic 3-Step Technique for Kids.
Pamela's holistic adaptation of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) incorporates mind, body, spirit, and cultural influences, toward the goal of making CBT more accessible and useful in real life. Workshop activities will include live and video demonstrations, along with opportunities to practice skills in small groups with supportive, helpful feedback.
*This workshop is open to professional counselors, social workers, and psychotherapists only. Sixteen (16) continuing education credits will be available, for a separate $15 fee, through AK-PA to participants who attend the entire workshop. There will be an application packet available at the event to submit for an AK-PA CE certificate. AK-PA is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer CE programs for Psychologists. Pam Hays, Ph.D., maintains responsibility for the program.
