The most beautiful gardens are under the sea! Learn to think like a painter but work like a fiber artist. Instead of brushes, paint and canvas, Judith will teach you to paint using fabrics, threads, yarns, crazy quilting and embellishment techniques. Learn how to work with many layers of netting, organza, and dyed silks to create depth and detail. This is a wonderful freeform embroidery class. The finished project can be framed and hung with pride.

Judith Baker Montano is the originator of the "Centerpiece Crazy Quilt" Method
Judith is a world-renowned Canadian fiber artist, author and teacher who is comfortable in many mediums. Her great-grandmother was a master quilter and her mother taught her needle skills at an early age. She attributes the rich, embellished ethnic influence in her work to living next door to an native reservation where she observed beautiful handicrafts. Eight years overseas in England, Germany and Japan was another profound influence on her artwork and outlook.
An accomplished fiber artist, Judith is also a qualified teacher and lecturer. She is comfortable in the embroidery, quilting and fiber arts worlds. Teaching has taken her throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan.
She appears on TV shows such as the Carol Duval Show, Simply Quilts and The Quilt Show. She has produced tutorial videos and DVDs; “Silk Ribbon Embroidery”, “Crazy Quilting”, “Embellishments”. Although her work continues to evolve, “crazy quilting” always appears in new designs, and she has turned it into a contemporary art form. She is renowned for her fiber landscapes, which incorporate all aspects of art and needlework techniques.
Judith is the author of:
- “Crazy Quilt Handbook”
- “Crazy Quilt Odyssey-Adventures in Victorian Needlework”
- “The Art of Silk Ribbon Embroidery”
- ”Elegant Stitches”
- “The Art of Judith Baker Montano”
- “Floral Stitches - an Illustrated Guide”
- “Elegant Stitches.”
- “Crazy Quilt Handbook, 2nd Edition”.
- “Fiber art Montage, Combining Quilting, Embroidery and Photography with Embellishments”
Judith made her first, of several, prize winning quilt in 1982, winning Best of Show at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It was a special victory, as her great-grandmother won the same award in 1934.
The number of prestigious awards Judith has received far exceeds the space we have available.
