Roy Corral, M.Ed., an Alaskan resident of nearly 50 years, is a photographer and writer focusing on Alaska's vast natural and cultural dimensions. He earned a degree in photojournalism from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1978, and holds a masters in community education from Colorado State University. He worked as Alaska magazine's photo editor for five years, and was also photojournalist for Alaska Newspapers Inc., where his award-winning pictures and stories of Alaska appeared in six of the state's rural newspapers - Tundra Drums, Cordova Times, Dutch Harbor Fisherman, Arctic Sounder, Seward Log and Bristol Bay Times. Roy has also been published in National Geographic, Outside, Sierra, Backpacker and Forbes, just to name a few. Roy's extensive travels in Alaska have included visiting nearly every village and town, giving him a unique understanding of the multi-faceted spirit of Alaska's people and places.
